Meet Katie Pentico, CPNP-PC
Katie's journey in healthcare is marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep love for children and their families. She embarked on her educational path at Virginia Tech, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. However, it wasn't long before she realized her true calling lay in nursing, where her passion for medicine and caring for children could be fully realized.
Determined to merge her medical expertise with her nurturing nature, Katie pursued her BSN from the prestigious Duke University School of Nursing. After graduation, she embarked on her nursing career at Duke University Hospital, where she worked on the Pediatric Progressive Care Unit. Her dedication to pediatric care and her thirst for knowledge led her back to Duke University School of Nursing, where she pursued her MSN Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Primary Care degree. Katie's commitment to excellence was further recognized with membership in the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing, a testament to her dedication to the field.
A Personalized Approach to Pediatric Care
Katie firmly believes in providing individualized, patient and family-centered care. She understands that while common childhood illnesses may exist, there is no "common" child or family. As a result, Katie is dedicated to offering personalized, evidence-based care tailored to each patient's unique needs and circumstances. She recognizes that healthcare is a holistic endeavor that extends beyond the physical to encompass spiritual, mental, emotional, and environmental aspects.
Katie's areas of passion within pediatric care include newborn care, asthma management, and pediatric mental health. Her commitment to excellence is further reflected in her active memberships in professional organizations such as the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Association for Respiratory Care.
Life Beyond Pediatrics
When Katie isn't caring for her patients, she cherishes moments spent with her husband, daughter, and their spirited labradoodle. She's an avid traveler, a coffee enthusiast, an active member of her church, a college football aficionado, and someone who thrives outdoors. Additionally, she has a fascination with true crime podcasts that keep her curiosity piqued.
