MACKENZIE SOWERS

In Fall 2026, Nurture Pediatrics is excited to welcome Dr. Mackenzie Sowers to our team. Dr. Sowers brings a strong clinical foundation, a lifelong commitment to serving others, and a genuine passion for pediatric care that has defined every step of her journey to this point.

Dr. Sowers earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Alabama, where she was deeply involved in student leadership — serving as president of Alpha Epsilon Delta, co-leading The Society of Women in Medicine, and volunteering with community organizations focused on children and families. That early commitment to advocacy and service carried directly into her medical training.

She went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine from UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was equally engaged — serving on the Admissions Committee, mentoring third-year medical students, volunteering at the Equal Access Birmingham clinic, and building relationships across every corner of her medical community. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Health in Dallas, Texas, one of the leading children's health systems in the country.

Before and throughout her medical training, Dr. Sowers worked directly in clinical environments — as a Clinical Assistant at Children's of Alabama supporting specialty outpatient clinics and as a Nurse Assistant in the perioperative department at William Beaumont Hospital. She has been in and around patient care for her entire career, and it shows in the way she approaches her work.

Dr. Sowers is committed to building real relationships with her patients and their families, providing care that is thoughtful, thorough, and centered on the whole child.

We are thrilled to have her at Nurture Pediatrics and know your family will be too.
